Charles “Jim” Lichty, age 80 of Battle Creek, passed away Friday, February 8, 2013. He was born October 21, 1932 in Adrian, Michigan the son of Robert Lee and Harriet LeMoyne (Farst) Lichty. Jim served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of American Legion Post #298 in Battle Creek and V.F.W. Post #2335 in Mecosta. He retired from Post Cereals on October 1, 1989 after 38 years of service. Jim enjoyed car shows, fishing, woodworking, garage sales, reading, dancing and fish fry’s with his family and friends. On July 2, 1982 he was married to Jennie L. (Charter), who survives. Together they wintered at Lake Wales, Florida for over 20 years. Jim is also survived by four sons: Robert (Doris) Lichty, William (Janet) Lichty, Mike (Joan) Findley and Mark Findley all of Battle Creek; six grandchildren: Nicholas (Tonja) Lichty, Trevor Lichty, Jaime (Dan) Nemire, Jon Findley, Christopher Jones and Todd (Heather) Jones; eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother: Donald Lichty. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with interment to follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to American Legion Post #298.
