Charles B. Dupree, Age 79, of Bellevue, went home to his heavenly Father on July 29, 2023. His love for his Lord Jesus Christ is his legacy, as is his love and dedication to his family. Charles was born on July 25, 1944, in Bay City. He was the son of Mary Powell and Verlin Powell. Charles served his country with honor as a member of the United States Marine Corps for six years. During his military service, he reached the rank of sergeant and received several prestigious awards, including the Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Marksman Badge, and the Vietnam Combat Ribbon. His commitment to his country exemplified his strong sense of duty and patriotism. After completing his military service, Charles embarked on a career at General Motors where he worked on the assembly line for over 30 years. Outside of work, Charles had a variety of interests and hobbies that brought him joy. He enjoyed farming and fishing while also taking pride in maintaining his yard. A handyman around the house, Charles enjoyed fixing things and taking on various home improvement projects. Charles was married to Bertha Dupree on July 28, 1969. Chuck and Bertha have been attending faith Baptist church since 2018 and have come to know and love many members and pastor Roy Henry. Surviving, is his wife, Bertha, his children Mary (Mike) Wilkinson of Holland, MI, Tonya (Ray) Hill of Marysville, MI, Melissa (Frank) Hurd of Scotts, MI, Charles (Meghan) Dupree of Battle Creek; Siblings: Ruth (Michael) DeGeorge of Smithfield, Virginia, Cathy (Rodger) Albright of Sherwood, MI, Barbra Dolph of Bellevue, MI, Gary (Laura) Dupree of Hathorn, Nevada, Chris Handloser, and Alice Adams of Arizona; thirteen Grandchildren and one Great Grandchild. Charles was preceded in death by his parents Mary and Verlin Powell; siblings: David Powell, Tom Dupree, Dan Dupree, Ronnie Dupree, and Norma Augustine. To honor Charles's memory, visitation services will be held on August 4th from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Faith Baptist Church in Battle Creek. This will be followed by a funeral service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location. Faith Baptist Church is located at 13840 Helmer Rd S, Battle Creek, MI 49015. Interment will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery. A Luncheon will be held at the church following the Interment.
