Charles J. “CJ” Anderson, age 74, of Battle Creek, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2013. He was born May 29, 1938 in Keokuk, Iowa the son of Carl and Agnes (Hutchin) Anderson. CJ served in the Air Force from 1956 until 1963. During this time he was stationed at Dover AFB, RAF Lakenheath in England and was an Air Policeman at the time of his honorable discharge. From 1963 to 1966 he was a patrolman with the Kalamazoo Police Department, then joined the Michigan State Police as a trooper from 1966 until 1975 and retired in 1992 from the Hastings Post as Detective Sergeant. CJ was a member of the Travel Trailer Club of the Midwest and was an avid toy collector. On May 23, 1964 he was married to Patricia A. (Stamm) in Portage, and she preceded him in death on July 7, 2005. He was also preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his daughter: Toni Jo (Michael) Mesecar and two granddaughters: Emily and MacKenzie Mesecar of Battle Creek; two sisters: Beverly (Larry) Parshall of Climax and Carla (Jerry) Boyer of Coldwater, and two brothers: Donald (Carol) Anderson of Napoleon and Robert (Kathy) Anderson of Hersey. The family will receive friends at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home on Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with a private interment to be held at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the Binder Park Zoo.
