Carolyn Garnes

Carolyn E. Garnes, Age 81, Of Battle Creek, Died Thursday, July 7, 2016, in Battle Creek. Carolyn was born on April 18, 1935, in Battle Creek, the daughter of Michael and Nellie (Hutcheson) Price. She had been a lifelong resident of the area graduating from Battle Creek Central High School. She was united in marriage to Jack Wesley Garnes, Sr., who preceded her in death in 2007. Carolyn worked as a telephone operator for Michigan Bell for over 25 years retiring in 1978. She enjoyed wintering in Florida, camping at Turtle Creek and doing crafts. Surviving is a granddaughter, Kate Garnes of Winter Garden, Florida; a sister, JoAnn Baker of Concord, California; a daughter-in-law, Judi Pastorino of Columbia Missouri and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Price; brothers, Jim, Ray, Carl and Jack Price; step-sons, Jack Garnes, Jr. and Tom Garnes. In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held September 6, 2016 from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. She will be buried at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
