Carol Elizabeth (Kratzer) Smith, age 77 of Fort Collins, Colorado, passed away Friday, December 7, 2018 at Lemay Avenue Health and Rehab. She was born July 9, 1941 in Danville, Pennsylvania the daughter of Albert Roosevelt and Dora Elizabeth (Rhinard) Kratzer. Carol was a beautiful young woman and accomplished much throughout her years, having achieved degrees in both Psychology and Special Education. Carol spent the majority of her working career as a Special Education teacher, and also taught music for a time. Carol did not have siblings growing up, and throughout her adult life has lived in varied parts of the U.S. from Vermont to Florida, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, and in most recent years resided in Fort Collins, Colorado nearest her son Matthew, as she required increasing assistance due to living with Parkinson's Disease. She had a very strong Christian faith and wished for all of those in her life to enjoy eternal salvation through acceptance of Jesus Christ. Carol kept her spirits up for many years of physical challenge through this faith. Her spirit in this battle was entirely unwavering and such an inspiration to all who knew her. Carol is survived by her four children, David, Luanne, Matt, and Jon, all of whom are married and have produced 12 adored grandchildren. She also has 5 great grandchildren. Her family members live across the US, in various locations. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her husband Richard C. Smith. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 am Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with Pastor Roy Henry of Faith Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Leroy Congregational Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest aside of her late husband.
