Carol M. Kime, 93, of Battle Creek passed away Sunday, September 4, 2011 at Brenda Moore Homes. She was born January 10, 1918 in Chicago, Illinois the daughter of Frank and Sadie (Dillman) Dankert. Carol graduated from Hartford High School in Hartford, MI. On October 1, 1938 she married Charles C. Kime in East Lansing, MI and they moved to Battle Creek in 1948. Charles preceded her in death on May 22, 1968. She was also preceded in death by her parents, sister, Gail Knapp and brother, Roger Dankert. Carol is survived by three daughters: Karen (Gary) Gabriel of Torch Lake, Kathy (Martin) Clark of Battle Creek and Janet Kime of Vashon, WA; one granddaughter: Christine (Jim) Lake of Marquette; one step-granddaughter: Karen Clark of Grand Rapids; and two great-granddaughters: Sydney and Lyndsey Lake of Marquette. Carol was a homemaker for most of her life and had many wonderful friends. She was a member of the First Congregational Church, Rose Standish Circle, and secretary at Kimball House Museum, member of the Historical Society and for 20 years a Red Cross volunteer. She enjoyed reading, quilting, gardening, and playing bridge. As per Carol’s request, cremation has taken place and there will be no services. Burial of ashes will be in Hartford MI. Memorial contributions may be given to the Battle Creek Historical Society or the First Congregational Church of Battle Creek.
