Bill D. Whited, age 77, of Battle Creek, passed away Monday, January 16, 2012. He was born August 6, 1934 in Davidson, Tennessee the son of Isaac and Bertha (Phillips) Whited. Bill began working at Bill Knapp’s while still in high school and continued his employment there until 2000 when he retired as the purchasing manager. He had also owned and operated Jackie’s Pizza along with his wife, Suzanne for over 15 years and following his retirement from Bill Knapp’s worked at Sam’s Club for several years. Bill was an outgoing person who loved his family. He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church and the Battle Creek Kiwanis Club. On August 8, 1954 he was married to Suzanne Carol (Irish), who survives. Also surviving are three daughters: Becky Mathiak of Elkhart, Indiana, Brenda Whited of Battle Creek and Beth (Larry) Flanery of Freeland; eight grandchildren: Heather (Adam) Marek, Rob, Ryan and Randy Mathiak, Sarah and Dustin Patterson, Travis Flanery and Sondra (Kelly) Eaton; four great-grandchildren: Ethan, Ben and Aaron Marek and Maize Ryan Mathiak; sister: Frances (Frank) Pesti of Bradenton, Florida. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, one brother: Larry Whited and sister: June Bartlett. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Memorial contributions may be given to the Battle Creek Kiwanis Club or Future Farmers of America.
