Beverly Simpson

Beverly Lescohier Simpson, age 77, of Battle Creek, passed away at her home on Thursday, September 17, 2015. She was born September 18, 1937 in Madison, Wisconsin the daughter of Eric and June Ella (Ames) Lescohier. A 1955 graduate of Fort Atkinson High School, she was an active member of the Black Hawk 4-H Club and Rainbow Girls. She attended Albion College in 1955 and then transferred to the University of Wisconsin, Stout where she graduated in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics. While at Stout she was a member of the Sigma, Sigma, Sigma Sorority. In February 1960 she began her employment at the Kellogg Company in the Home Economics Department developing recipes using the Kellogg cereals. She transferred into the Research Department in 1963 and began development work on the Pop Tart and retired in 1997. She was a past member of the Battle Creek Home Economics Club, Central Michigan HEIB (Home Economists in Business), Institute of Food Technologists and Cereal Chemists. She is a member of the Kellogg 25 year club, an active member of the Altrusa Club of Battle Creek, The First Congregational Church, a 50 plus member and Riverside Country Club where she had been a member since 1969. She had her first hole in one in May 2009 after playing golf for 45 years. In 1964 she was crowned Miss Fort Custer. Beverly married James Clevenger in January of 1966 and he died in June 1983. In March of 1984 she married David Simpson and he died February 25, 2015. She was also preceded in death by her parents and step-daughter: Kimberly Massidda.  Surviving are three brothers: Jim (Anita) Lescohier of Stoughton, WI, Don (Cindy Wolff) Lescohier of Jefferson, WI and Richard (Joann) Lescohier of Fort Atkinson, WI; several nieces and nephews; stepson: Scott (Carrie) Simpson of Brownsburg, IN and grandchildren: Chandler and Ciara; and son-in-law: Todd Massidda and grandchildren: Lyndsie, Chad and Danielle. Beverly was a cancer survivor and a Guillian Barre Syndrome (GBS) survivor. A Memorial Service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 25, 2015 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas J. Ott officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
