Beulah Madelyn Weeks, age 88, of Climax, passed away Friday, July 10, 2015 at The Manor of Battle Creek. She was born July 18, 1926 in Battle Creek, Michigan the daughter of George Clinton and Beulah Madelyn (Travis) Ferguson. Beulah worked at Ellington Field in Texas from 1945 to 1946, and then worked in the cash offices at L.W. Robinson, Sears and Hudson. Most recently she worked as a secretary at St. Joseph Parish from 1979 to 1982. In May of 1996 she graduated from Climax High School and was the class valedictorian. She enjoyed music, knitting and crocheting, and writing poetry and short stories. Beulah taught poetry in the Battle Creek schools including Urbandale, Valley View and Fremont, as well as Tekonsha and St. Philip. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Legion of Mary, Climax Bridge Club and the Iota Chapter of Alpha Beta Epsilon of Western Michigan University. On November 16, 1943 Beulah was married to Gerold F. Weeks who preceded her in death on March 3, 1993. She was also preceded in death by her parents. Surviving are three children: Pamela Jo Gleave of Olivet, Deborah Dawn (James) Thomas of Wichita, Kansas and Rona Keith Weeks of Ignacio, Colorado; five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; four brothers: Keith (Carol) Ferguson, Jerry (Katie) Ferguson, Daryl (Cheri) Ferguson and Darwin Ferguson. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Leroy Congregational Cemetery. The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to Alzheimer’s Association. www.henryfuneralhome.org
