Beulah O. Cucuro-Shafer, Age 97, Of Battle Creek, Died December 25, 2013, at The Oaks at North Pointe Woods. Beulah was born January 3, 1916, in New Carlisle, IN, the daughter of Frank and Jessie E, (Eckert) Eggleston. She had been an area resident since 1948, after residing in Three Oaks, Niles and Evart before coming to Battle Creek. On October 29, 1932, she was united in marriage to Thomas J. Cucuro who preceded her in death in 1995. She then married Richard M. Shafer in 1999, who survives. Beulah worked in sales for 30 years for Stanley Home Products and then was a Practical Nurse in Private Duty Nursing. She was a member of the North Avenue Church of God, a former member of the Ladies Division of the Lions Club and a member of the United Commercial Traveler’s. She enjoyed bowling, crocheting, family activities and wintering in Florida for several years. Surviving is a son, Ronald D. Cucuro of Port Austin, MI; 3 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeanine Owen in 1983; a brother, Leland B. Eggleston and a sister, Jenice E. Halstead. Visitation will be held Sunday from 4 to 7:00 p.m., at The Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, December 30, 2013, at the funeral home. Interment will be at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.
