Betty Davis

May 29, 1925 — August 15, 2015

Betty Jayne Davis, age 90, of Battle Creek and Lakeland, Florida went Home in the arms of Jesus on Saturday, August 15, 2015; on that day, Betty was surrounded by family members. It was her humor and quick wit that made her the life of the party no matter if she was at home, at work at Post Cereals or on the golf course. Betty shared her amazing life with her husband Vern Edward Davis Sr. who preceded her in death. Together they went hunting, fishing, boating, water skiing, and bowling, golfing, cruising and camping in their motor home. She shared a love for the Detroit Tigers with her mother, Ellen Louise Hoagland who preceded her in death. Betty began her love of baseball as a young woman playing professional women’s baseball on a team based in Battle Creek. She was forced to quit her ball career when she began having children but never gave up her love for the sport. She was always eager to join in a game with family and friends. Betty is survived by her three children: Natala Jayne Mohl (TJ) of Battle Creek, Diana Louses Wesaw of Delton and Vern E. Davis Jr. of Winter Haven, Florida; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 20, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home and a Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Cornerstone Community Church, 3030 Beckley Road, Battle Creek.  www.henryfuneralhome.org
