Bette Lyon

Bette J.  Lyon, Age 93, Of Battle Creek, Died Tuesday, December 29, 2015. Bette was born on June 30, 1922, in Kalamazoo, MI, the daughter of Orrin and Ella May (Hope) Oliver. She had been a lifelong resident of the area and attended St. Philip and Battle Creek Central High School. On November 27, 1939, she married Otho Alcorn who preceded her in death in 1976. She then married Harry E. Lyon in 1979, he survives. Bette was employed at Sullivan’s for 11 years, then with the Kellogg Company for 21 years retiring in 1983. She enjoyed walking, dancing, knitting and reading. Surviving is a son, David (Yvonne) Alcorn; step-children, Harry (Kathy) Lyon, Jr., Richard (Wendy) Lyon, Thomas (Joan) Lyon and Mary (Tim) Warren; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Alcorn; sisters, Beverly Knickerbocker, Aristine Schepel, Ernestine Hudson and Roberta Knapp;  brothers, Robert Oliver and Erwin Oliver; a grandson, Richard Alcorn II. Visitation will be held Sunday from 4 to 7:00 p.m., at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 4, 2016, at the funeral home. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
