Bethel “Bud” L. Winton, age 92 of Battle Creek, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2012. He was born June 27, 1919 in Alpine, Tennessee the son of Emit and Flora (Bilbrey) Winton. Bud served in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant and was stationed in Normandy during World War II. He loved to tell stories about his experience and was very proud of being a part of the military. Bud ran the ovens at Weston Biscuit Company and retired from there after 40 years. Following his retirement he and his wife, Frances I. Winton moved to North Fort Myers, Florida where they enjoyed golfing and being with their friends. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge and VFW. After Frances passed away, Bud married Willie Mae Lee from Cookeville, Tennessee and she also preceded him in death. He was also preceded by seven brothers and sisters. Surviving are two daughters: Joy (Jim) Corsi and Sandra (Bill) Edmonds both of Battle Creek; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; brother: Glen Winton and sister: Ruth Mitchell both of Sparta, Tennessee. Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Fort Custer National Cemetery, those wishing to attend please meet in the cortege assembly area prior to the service time. Memorial contributions may be given to the charity of one’s choice.
