Bert Blaskie

Bert F. Blaskie, age 76, of Battle Creek, passed away Friday, January 16, 2015. He was born December 28, 1938 in Battle Creek, Michigan the son of Bert B. and Edna (Shroder) Blaskie. Bert graduated from Lakeview High School in 1957 and attended Michigan State University. For many years he worked with his father at Bert’s Glass Service, and later was an estimator and project manager for Battle Creek Glass from 1991 to 2005. During this time he and his wife also managed several rental properties in the Battle Creek area. Bert loved to hunt and fish. He had fished on all of the Great Lakes for perch and salmon, and spent many summers at Tawas Bay on Lake Huron. He is survived by his wife, Karen S. (Choate) Blaskie of Battle Creek; two children: Nick J. Blaskie of Battle Creek and Shannon Sims of Kalamazoo; three step-daughters: Lisa McGovern of San Antonio, TX, Amie Chronkhite of Battle Creek and Carrie Chisholm of Illinois; eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son Christopher Todd Blaskie and step-son Mark S. Wright. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. www.henryfuneralhome.org
