Bernice Woods

Bernice I. Woods, age 92, of Battle Creek, passed away on September 1, 2021, at Evergreen Senior Care & Rehab Center.  She was born on May 12, 1929, in Bellevue, Michigan, the daughter of Bernard and Zelma (Pierce) Lennon.  Bernice attended the first through eighth grade at Section Hill School and graduated from Bellevue High School in 1946.  She moved to Battle Creek from Bellevue in 1947, then lived in Las Vegas, NV, before returning to Battle Creek in 1973.  Bernice was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.  She was previously employed at Security National Bank and retired from Comerica Bank in 1992 after thirty-three years of service.  She was a member of the Marshall Women of the Moose, Squarenaders Dance Club, Euchre Club, Senior Tour Club, Thornapple Vally Dulcimer Club, and the Old Tyme Music Dulcimer Club.  Bernice enjoyed playing the dulcimer and keyboard, computers, cards, dancing and traveling.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Jack W. Woods Sr., brother; Wayne Lennon, sisters; Margaret Price and Doris Samulak.  Surviving are children; Jack Woods Jr. of East Leroy, MI., Sheryl Broderick of Battle Creek, Dianne Potter of Lawton, MI., and Kimberly Menzies of Fort Smith, AR., nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Service, where a recitation of The Rosary will take place at 7:00 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church.  Fr. Christopher Ankley, celebrant.  Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.  Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.henryfuneralhome.org
