Bernice Hagan- Golyar, Age 91, Of Battle Creek, Passed away Sunday, September 11, 2016, surrounded by her family at The Legacy at the Oaks. Bernice was born on July 6, 1925, in Clark Chapel, Arkansas, the daughter of Elzie B. and Ida (Gross) Nixon. She was a graduate of Wichita High School in Kansas. Bernice had been an area resident since 1954. She was united in marriage to John J. Hagan who preceded her in death in 1979; she then married Michael F. Golyar who preceded her in death in 1996. She was employed at the Kellogg Company for 28 years in quality control retiring in 1987. She was a member of Harper Creek Baptist Church, volunteered at the Charitable Union, attended exercise classes at Burnham Brook, Red Cross blood donor for most of her life, enjoyed helping others and visiting nursing homes. Surviving are her children, Robin (Rex) Hagan-Blowers of Augusta, Rita (Craig) Hagan-Dawson of Hanover, MI and Ronald (Sheila) Hagan of Ocean Springs, MS; 16 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; a sister, Margie McCarthy of Arkansas; she was preceded in death by 3 brothers, 2 sisters and a great grandchild, Jack Sherman. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 to 8:00 p.m. at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 15, 2016, at the funeral home.
