Bernard “Bernie” Taylor, Age 91, Of Battle Creek, Died Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at Bronson Battle Creek. Bernard was born on September 9, 1920, in Barrow-in-Furness, England, the son of James and Edith E. (Cooke) Taylor. He had been a resident of the area since he was nine months old, except from 1977 to 1990 when he lived in his lake home in Colon, Michigan. He was a graduate of Lakeview High School and Argubright Business College. He was a 2nd LT serving in the Army Air Corp as a pilot during WWII. Bernie married the former D. Grace Akers who survives. He was employed at the Kellogg Company as a millwright until his retirement after thirty years of service. He was a member of the Westlake Presbyterian Church and the American Legion. He wintered in Sarasota, Florida since 1981 and enjoyed golf, bowling, woodworking, bridge, card games, fishing and shuffle board. Surviving are children, David M. (Susan) Taylor of Battle Creek, Steven J. (Kathleen) Taylor of Battle Creek and Cynthia A. (Greg) VanDusen of Bradenton, FL; grandchildren, Taylor VanDusen, Ryan VanDusen and Collin Taylor. He was preceded in death by a sister, Edna M. Taylor. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 4:00 p.m. and 6 to 8:00 p.m. at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 19, 2012, at Westlake Presbyterian Church with The Rev. Patricia Weatherwax  and Chaplain Tim Smothers officiating. Entombment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Southeastern Guide Dogs, 4210 77th  St.  East, Palmetto, FL, 34221. www.henryfuneralhome.org
