Barbara "Bj" Underwood

Barbara “BJ” Underwood, age 82, of Battle Creek, formerly of Ionia and Manistee, passed away Monday, March 17, 2014 at Bronson Battle Creek. She was born March 8, 1932 in Peoria, Illinois the daughter of William and Anna (Johnson) Hawkins. BJ was a member of Birchwood United Methodist Church, the Christian Singles Group, Red Hat Society and Beta Sigma Phi. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Everett “Red” Underwood on March 4, 2003; one sister, Patricia Repo and one brother, William Underwood Jr. Surviving are two daughters: Bambi (Randy) Powell of Battle Creek and Teri (Scott) Warda of Grand Haven; three grandsons: Chris Powell, Adam Warda and Ben Warda; two sisters: Marthea (Eugene) Brewer of Manistee and Marilyn Mark of Dexter; and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held 12:45 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 2014 at the Birchwood United Methodist Church, corner of Gethings and Helmer Roads with Rev. Bruce Kintigh officiating.
