Barbara Trascik

Barbara J. Trascik, age 93, of Battle Creek, passed away on July 26, 2021, at her residence. She was born on December 4, 1927, in Battle Creek, the daughter of William and Irene (Bruso) Cook. Barbara was a lifelong area resident and attended Springfield Schools. She was devoted to her home, husband, and family, helping whenever and wherever she was needed. Throughout Barbara’s life she was always willing to fulfill the role of a caregiver to anyone who was in need, especially her family, neighbors, and friends. Barbara enjoyed a number of activities including dining out, watching Detroit Tiger’s baseball and old movies, feeding the birds, a good glass of wine, Elvis music, spending time with all of her grandchildren and her grand-dog Sulley, taking day trips to her favorite nearby locations, hosting family holidays and gatherings often, and overall just spending time with neighbors, friends, and family. She was united in marriage in April of 1968, to Phillip Trascik, he preceded her in death on May 1, 2018. Also preceding her in death were her parents, sisters; Evelyn Joppie and Mildred Eaton, brothers; Robert and Melvin Cook. She is survived by her children; Sue Hendon and Gary (Wondrella) Deno, both of Battle Creek, five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Saturday, July 31, 2021, at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Rev. Larry T. Messer officiating. Private interment will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
