Barbara Lewman

Barbara Jean Lewman, age 72, of Battle Creek, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2020. She was born July 13, 1947 in Phoenix, Arizona the daughter of Robert and Jean (Gunning) Coulter. Barb was a 1965 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School and went on to attend Kellogg Community College, Ferris State University and Western Michigan University. She worked as a Registered Nurse all her life and retired from the Kalamazoo State Hospital where she had worked for many years. Barb along with her husband Roger, owned and operated foster care homes for veterans in both Battle Creek and Albion for 23 years. Barb enjoyed flower gardening and kept many beautiful flower beds. She is survived by her husband Roger A. Lewman; two stepsons: Mark (Nadine) Lewman of Portland, Oregon and Michael (Onda) Lewman of Parchment, Michigan; four grandchildren and one sister Judy Grady of Las Vegas, Nevada and her family. Barb was preceded in death by her parents. A Memorial Service will be held 12:30 p.m.  Monday, February 24, 2020 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family requests memorial contributions be given to the Humane Society of South-Central Michigan.
