Barbara L.  Harter, Age 92, Of Holt, Michigan, Formerly of Battle Creek, Died Monday, September 2, 2013. Barbara was born on July 31, 1921, in Battle Creek, the daughter of Elga L. and Kathryn (Gould) Pratt. She moved to Bellevue, MI, in 1929 and graduated from Bellevue High School in 1938.  She was united in marriage to Robert L. Harter on December 22, 1951; he preceded her in death on February 6, 1978. She went to work at Michigan Bell Telephone Company in October 1950 and retired on February 17, 1982 after 31 years of service. Barbara was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and a former member of B.C.H.S. Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, bingo and dancing. She is survived by sons, Kenneth D. (Mary) Smith of Emory, TX and Frederick L. (Lana) Smith of Holt, MI; a stepson, Philip (Mary Pat) Harter of Battle Creek; sister-in-laws, Mary T. Pratt of Tucson, AZ, and Marjorie Pratt of Hisperia, MI;7 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Also a special cousin, Gloria Cook of Lansing, MI, and special friends, Evelyn Moses of Ocala, FL, and Norma Listing of Holt, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents and by three brothers, George, Richard and James Pratt. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 7, 2013, at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with The Rev. Dr. James M. Gysel officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.
