Arnold Schepel Jr., age 88, of Battle Creek, passed away on November 16, 2023 at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital surrounded by his family. Arnold (Arnie now and Sonny as he was known in the early days) was born on June 20, 1935 in Battle Creek, to Arnold Sr. and Arestine (Oliver) Schepel. Arnie loved life and being on the go. His love (Other than his wife, Sandy) was the game of golf. He would have lived and breathed it as long as she would let him. He worshipped and played the sport and even made and repaired clubs for family and friends. Arnie attended Urbandale Elementary and went on to attend Battle Creek Central High School until he joined the U.S. Navy in 1953 where he proudly served as an engineman. He married the love of his life Sandra Troutman of Coldwater, Michigan in 1958 and they were married for 63 years. After retirement they purchased a motorhome in which they traveled in Michigan and then wintered in Florida. In 2004 they purchased a home in Palm Lake Estates in Bradenton, Florida and became snowbirds. He worked at Ralston Purina where he became a master electrician for 37 years, retiring before the age of 60. He was a lifelong member of the Elks Lodge 131 where he and his friends had many fun times. He played golf on an Elks League for many years and then the Senior League at Binder Park Golf Club. Arnie was a perfectionist, and his golf game was right on. Arnie is survived by his daughter, Tammi (Barri) Evans, son, Todd (Kimberly Saltlick, fiancé) Schepel, seven grandchildren, and two great granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Sandra, sister, Dana Schepel, and a brother, Donald Schepel. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, November 20, 2023 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
