Arlene Gilbert

Arlene Elnora Gilbert, Age 83, Of Battle Creek, Was called home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 12, 2012. She was born August 7, 1928, in Battle Creek, the daughter of John and Bessie M. (Shoup) Bolton. Arlene graduated from Bellevue High School in 1946 and in 1950 was united in marriage to the love of her life, William A. Gilbert who preceded her in death in 1993. Arlene was employed at Federal Home Life Insurance Company where she worked for over 30 years. Arlene lived her life to serve her Lord Jesus Christ and her church. She was a member of Family Altar Chapel and the Hope Nazarene Church of Urbandale. Arlene also enjoyed volunteering for many years at Battle Creek Health System. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, William Bolton, John Bolton, Melvin Bolton and her youngest son, Mark L. Gilbert in 2009. Arlene is survived by her daughter, Judy K. (Mike) Strasser of Sunfield, MI and son, David L. (Sandy) Gilbert of Bellevue, MI; five grandchildren, Christopher Strasser, Wendy Rininger, Andrew Gilbert, Luke Gilbert and Wesley Aaron. five great- grandchildren, Ashley, Tyler, Brianna, Allison and Emily. Also, special friends Don and Terry Huff. A special thank you to Paulette Gunning of Beadle Lake Adult Foster Care, for the wonderful loving care she and her family gave our mother during the final months of her life. The family will receive friends at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home Friday, March 16, from 2 to 4:00 p.m. and 6 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 17, 2012, at Family Altar Chapel with Pastor Travis Davis officiating.
