Ardis Dosh

Ardis Rae (Bentley) Dosh, age 88 of Battle Creek and formerly of Athens, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at The Oaks at Northpointe Woods. Ardis was born December 12, 1926, to John and Ida (McCoy) Bentley near Columbiaville, Michigan. She was raised in Cheboygan County and graduated from Lapeer High School in 1945. Ardis married John L. Dosh of Davison on June 22, 1946. They served in three churches in Roscommon County where John was pastor from 1951 to 1957. Since 1957 they lived in the Athens area where they served the North Athens Baptist Church. During the first 9 years, they also served the Fairfax Baptist Church in Battle Creek. John retired from North Athens in 1993. During her years as a pastor’s wife, Ardis also worked in the office of Dr. Tyson in Climax for several years. She enjoyed quilting, bonsai gardening, and water gardening. In her later years, she was well cared for by the staff at The Oaks. Ardis is survived by her sons: Mervin (Judy) Dosh of Marion, Iowa, Raymond (Cindy) Dosh of Marion, Indiana, Richard (Becky) Dosh of East Leroy; daughter: Kristine (Shawn) O’Keefe of Athens; grandchildren: Andy, Jim and Corrie Dosh, Michael and Josh O’Keefe, and Austin Dosh; six great-grandchildren; sister: Normalene Winter of Phoenix, Arizona; and brother: Curtis (Sue) Bentley of West Valley City, Utah. Ardis was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers: John, Maurice and Vance; sisters: Bernita Bentley and Virginia Plume and half-sister: Gladys Bordelon. Ardis will be missed as a devoted mother and grandmother. Her family and friends will remember her life of faith and love of her Lord. Funeral Services will be held 12:00 p.m. Saturday, May 16, 2015 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with Rev. Marvin Savola of North Athens Baptist Church officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. A private family burial will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery.  The family requests that memorial contributions be made to North Athens Baptist Church or Calhoun Christian School.
