Anthony Loren Thurman

Anthony Loren Thurman, age 76, of Battle Creek, MI, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Oaklawn Hospital, surrounded by his daughters. Anthony was born on May 15, 1948, in Battle Creek, MI to the late Floyd and Jessie Sue (Hatfield) Thurman. Anthony was the oldest of four boys and was a graduate of Battle Creek Central High School. He later studied Agriculture and received several certificates in this field.

In his earlier years, he worked for the City of Battle Creek, doing various field work. In his later years, he worked as a landscaper/ground maintenance for Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens and did various independent work.

Anthony was a free-spirited individual. He loved the outdoors which included fishing, gardening, and golfing. He was a craftsman/handyman and stayed busy fixing and making things; primarily working with wood and leather. He also loved reading books.

Anthony is survived by his two daughters Alicia (Thurman) Davis of Battle Creek, MI; Amy (Mike) Green of Battle Creek, MI; a brother, Tommy Jo (Cindy) Thurman of Battle Creek, MI; his six grandchildren Chaz Rodriguez, Jacqara (Jessica) Jackson, Damara Jackson, Sara (Brandon) McElhenie, Brooke (Rick) Roberts, and Austin (Regan) Roberts; his four great-grandchildren, Julian, Anna, Rayna, and Lucas; his former wife, Joanna (Uldriks) Latshaw.

Anthony was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Jessie Sue Thurman; brothers, Steve Thurman, and Mikey Thurman.

After 10 years of dealing with multiple health issues, we know he is now at peace and reunited with loved ones in heaven. He will be truly missed by many.

In honor of Anthony’s wishes, there will be no services or celebration of life.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at MediLodge of Marshall, and Oakland Hospital. Your care and compassion for him over the past several years was a huge blessing to our family.
