Annabelle Joyce Thorpe, age 101, of Battle Creek.
Born the second oldest of nine children in Geneva, Indiana January 2,1921, to Samuel Vernon Blowers and Mary E. (Fravel) Blowers, Annabelle Thorpe has passed peacefully at Calhoun County Medical Care Facility on March 14, 2022. Annabelle moved to Battle Creek with her family in 1926 and attended Battle Creek Central. She grew up on a farm during the Great Depression and was responsible for helping raise her siblings. She developed a lifelong love of sewing and crafts. She often made clothes for herself and her children, passing that knowledge down to her grandchildren. She loved her family, baking, gardening, and involvement in church society; singing in the church choir, and later becoming a board member and historian for the former Sonoma United Methodist Church.
In 1939 Annabelle married Robert Thorpe and lived very happily with him until his death in 1995. She worked at Kellogg's from 1947 to 1952 but preferred to be a homemaker.
Annabelle will be sorely missed by her surviving daughters Barbara Spencer and Terrie (Michael) Ingalls: her nephew Dennis Van Dyke; her grandchildren Danny (Sarah)Worden, Randy Spencer, Vicky (Phil) Neufeld, Christine Kidder, Cheryl Arendt and Noelle Wright; her great-grandchildren Paul Walker, Joshua Walker, Jason Kidder, Casey Caswell and Veda Sioux France.
Annabelle is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughters Kay Arendt and Shirley Reedy, her siblings: Irene Carry, Georgetta Banfield, Rex Blowers, Dorothy Wright, Joann Smyth, Judith Blowers, Jerry Blowers and Glenn Blowers
