Passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Brookdale of Battle Creek. Ammy was born on December 15, 1933, in Kalamazoo, MI. She was the daughter of William H. and Lila (Root) Simmonds. She grew up with her grandparents near Gull Lake and Climax. Ammy lived most of her married life in Battle Creek. She was united in marriage to John G. Russell, who survives.  She was a 1952 graduate of Lakeview High school and then graduated from Argubright Business College. Ammy worked as a secretary at the Battle Creek Sanitarium Dieticians Office and then at Englewood Electric. She was a member of the Battle Creek SDA Tabernacle where she sang in the church choir and helped with the food pantry at the church. Ammy enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s athletic events and other school activities. She enjoyed gardening, making dollhouses, sewing and baking. Surviving are her daughters, Kay (Frank) Sutfin of Climax, MI, and Kimberly (Roger) Noble of Whispering Pines, NC.; 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; a brother, Fred Simmonds of Mendon, MI and numerous nieces and nephews. In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 15, 2024, at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home and Cremation Services. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be given to The Battle Creek Tabernacle Church, the Alzheimer’s Association, or the charity of one's choice. www.henryfuneralhome.org
