Amado C. Huerta, age 90, of Battle Creek, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2016 at his home. He was born May 4, 1926 in Houston, Texas the son of Amado and Theresa (Contreas) Huerta. Mr. Huerta moved to the Battle Creek area in 1955 from Saginaw and for over 40 years owned and operated Amado’s Upholstery. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a wonderful cook and appreciated all animals; he said they were a gift from God. For many years he and his wife were active in sponsoring baseball, floor hockey, basketball and softball teams in Battle Creek. On March 24, 1955 he was married to Mary (Sanchez) in Saginaw, Michigan and she preceded him in death on April 15, 1995. He was also preceded by his parents and twelve brothers and sisters. Mr. Huerta is survived by his sons, Mike and John Huerta; daughters, Irene Frost, DeeDee Geleff and Lori Jean Huerta; eleven grandchildren, twenty three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 1, 2016 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with interment to follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with the Rosary to be recited at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Joseph Catholic Church or Bronson at Home Hospice. www.henryfuneralhome.org
