Alice Short

Alice Short, age 74, passed away on November 17, 2013 after a long illness.  She was born on August 8, 1939 in Battle Creek, Michigan.  Alice was active in the United Methodist Church, where she worked in refugee resettlement.  She helped numerous Vietnamese families make new homes in this country, and created many lasting friendship.  Alice was an accomplished quilter and loved animals.  She is preceded in death by parents Marie and Harvey Foss, brother Louis Foss, and husband Sidney Short.  She is survived by children Matthew (Nhien), Susanne (Betsy), and stepchildren Jan (Steve), Donna (John), and Margaret, and grandchildren Emily, Sidney, Mattie, Henry, Justin, Jessica, Samantha, Annie, Lisa, Jennifer, Julia and Jonathan.  A celebration of life is planned for Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. 703 Capital Avenue SW, Battle Creek, Michigan.  Visitation Friday, November 29, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Allen County SPCA, 4914 S.
