Albert F. Gould, Jr., 95, of East LeRoy, Michigan, passed away Saturday, October 28, 2017. Albert was born May 6, 1922, in Battle Creek, Michigan, the son of Albert F. and Leone Marie (Mackenzie) Gould, Sr. Albert grew up on East Avenue in the Verona area, and went to school at Verona Elementary. He graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1941. WWII broke out and Albert entered into the Enlisted Reserve Corps on August 12, 1942. He was called to active duty on February 6, 1943, and departed the United States on April 25, 1944. Albert was assigned to the 341 st Air Force Squadron on July 27, 1944, and logged a total of 729 hours of flight in 136 missions before being ordered home on August 27, 1945.

Albert continued inactive duty in the Reserves and attained rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He retired on October 1 st , 1965. While in the Reserves he also took courses at the University of Michigan before joining his father at Union Electric Company as an electrical contractor in 1947, and eventually became president of the company when his father retired. He was acting president until his retirement in 1972. While at Union Electric Company, Albert met his wife of 68 years, Dora Mae Howard, and they were married on November 8 th , 1948. Albert and Dora loved and lived at the family centennial farm in East LeRoy and later in life moved to the Reflections assisted living center on Helmer Road in Battle Creek, Michigan. Albert enjoyed his family and friends, deer hunting, farming, and traveling with Dora in their travel trailer throughout the U.S. and many parts of Florida where they wintered for many years. He was an avid reader and enjoyed a good game of Bridge.  Albert is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Dora (Howard) Gould, and one brother, Arthur M. Gould of the Villages, Florida. Also surviving are his two daughters, Gary and Linda (Gould) Conover of Niles, Michigan, Ellen (Petey) Chamberlain of East LeRoy, Michigan, and four grandchildren, Katie Murray of Cleveland, Ohio, Kellie Welch of Niles, Michigan, Jason Laske of Walnut Creek, California, and Jesse Keagle of Lansing, Michigan. Albert was preceded in death by two sisters, Joan Horn of Florida, and Harriet Heinz of California. Funeral services will be held 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2017, at Richard A. Henry Funeral Home, with visitation prior to the service starting at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. Nancy VanderRoest officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
