ALBERT “LEO” FARRINGTON, age 77, passed away May 11, 2011 at home surrounded by his loving family and friends. Leo was born September 4, 1933 in Battle Creek, Michigan, the twin son of Hilda (Boshers) and William Grady Farrington. Leo served as a corporal in the U.S. Army Tank Company 60th Infantry from 1953 to 1955 as a tank driver and was then employed by the Clark Equipment Company for 35 years. He was a lifetime member of the Bedford Masonic Lodge 207 and the VFW post of Athens.
On September 3, 1955 Leo was united in marriage to Betty (Wilkey) Farrington. Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Betty, two daughters, Kimber (Jim) Shaffer of Galesburg, MI and Kari (Brian) Stauffer of East Leroy, MI and four grandchildren, Remington and Dalton Shaffer and Evan and Allison Stauffer whom he loved dearly. Leo was preceded in death by his parents Hilda and Grady Farrington, a twin brother Robert “Lee “ Farrington, and brother Edward “Elmer” Farrington. He is also survived by brothers, William “Douglas” Farrington, Jack Allen Farrington, sister, Barbara Elaine, an aunt Virginia Jones, and several nieces and nephews.
Leo was an avid fisherman and gardener and loved to travel North and camp with his family and friends. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time with his friends cutting wood and cooking up fish for everyone to enjoy. Leo was loved by all and brought happiness to everyone he met. He will be dearly missed by his family but the wonderful memories he made will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, May 15, 2011 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home where services will be held at 1pm Monday with Pastor Kelly Hadlich of Battle Creek Friends Church officiating. Burial and military honors will follow at Morgan Cemetery.
