Nancy Vargo

Nancy L. Vargo, age 70, of Battle Creek, passed away on October 18, 2020 at her residence.  She was born on July 22, 1950 in Pittsburgh, PA., the daughter of Lewis and Emma (Baldessari) Bowman.  Nancy moved from Pittsburgh to the Battle Creek area  at the age of eighteen, and graduated from Galesburg-Augusta High School.  She was  employed as a corrections officer for the Riverbend Maximum Security Prison in Nashville, TN., and the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department from which she retired.  Nancy loved to travel, go to the casino,  and spend time with family.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother; Lewis “Skip” Bowman.  She is survived by her life partner of 44 years; Barbara Reed of Battle Creek, children; Teresa Vargo of Pittsburgh, PA., Tammy (John) Chapman of Battle Creek, Shannyn Reed of Plymouth, MI., Rick Reed of Fulton, MI., brother; Bill (Merrilyn) Bowman of Fayetteville, NC., sister; Janet Bowman of Pittsburgh, PA., grandchildren; Ryan Vargo, David (Melynda) Chapman, Jesse (Candice) Chapman, Travis (Ashley) Chapman, special aunts; Mary Dahl, of Pittsburgh, PA., and Pat Reihl of North Port, FL.  The family will receive friends on Monday, October 26, 2020 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Richard A.
