Welcome to Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services

"Here When You Need Us Most."

For over 50 years, families in Battle Creek and the surrounding communities have turned to Richard A. Henry Funeral Home and Cremation Services for assistance and guidance when faced with the loss of a loved one. What began as a small, English Tudor style home, purchased by Richard and Shirley Henry in August of 1963 has become one of the area's most recognized names in funeral service. By numerous acquisitions of surrounding properties, the funeral home has been expanded several times to serve the community's needs.

In May of 2015, Richard A. Henry passed away and the funeral home was purchased by long-time employees, Thomas C. Coleman and Joseph U. Stasa the following year. The tradition of being a truly family owned and operated funeral home has continued. Tom's wife Paula is a third-generation funeral director on staff along with her cousin Denny Seivert who oversees the pre-need/pre-planning operations of the funeral home. Joe's son Joey recently graduated from Worsham College of Mortuary Science and is now a licensed funeral director at the funeral home. The current staff has been in place for many years and brings with it a wealth of experience. Mike Hookway oversees the building and grounds maintenance and has been with the firm for over 35 years, as well as Patti Otis Lietz, our office manager who has over 23 years experience in that role. We can proudly say that we are a family owned and operated business with many connections to the community that we serve.

The change of ownership has brought about many updates and renovations and those continue to be made with the comfort and convenience of the families served in mind. One of those being the change of name to Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services, to better reflect the changing traditions in funeral service. A few of the other updates and renovations being the atrium, which is unique to the funeral home and has been converted into a Reflections Garden for the use of the families and their friends which we are privileged to serve. Also, a rose garden has been added adjacent to the main entrance. The funeral home includes two spacious chapels for funeral and memorial ceremonies, visitations, memorial gatherings and luncheons, as well as a variety of tastefully appointed rooms for family and visitors to gather. The well maintained Old English Tudor building with entrances from both Capital Avenue, S.W. and Grand Boulevard is a home of which we are most proud.

Our staff is committed to providing a professional service to all the families of the area, no matter what the choice of service may be, and we remain dedicated to providing the best service possible. What's important to you is important to us. Our staff will always listen first and whether you prefer a more traditional funeral service, a personalized custom ceremony or a small private gathering, we are here to meet your every need.
