Ella M. Linder, 89, of Battle Creek passed away peacefully Thursday April 12, 2012 at Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence. She was born on May 6, 1922 in Lansing, MI to Gale and Eva (McClure) Turner. Ella graduated from Lansing Eastern High School in 1940. Her family then moved to a farm in Marshall, MI. During WWII she worked for Eaton Corporation. She later graduated from Wright Beauty Academy. Ella met Veon Linder in 1945. They married December 29, 1946 and moved to Battle Creek. She went to work at Kellogg Company in 1950 as an inspector and retired after 31 years in 1981. Ella belonged to the Kellogg 25 Year Club.
She has two daughters, Sharon (Dennis) Struble and Vickie (William) Jung. Ella has six wonderful granddaughters, Sarah (Shawn) Green, Megan (Sean) Etheridge, Lindsey (Todd) Bramlet, Emily Jung, Rachael Jung, and Rebecca Jung. Her great grandchildren called her Ella. They are Kaleb Green, Andrea Green, Meredith Green, Maryn Etheridge and baby Etheridge due in October. Ella was preceded in death by her husband, Veon in 1996 and a brother, Norman Turner. Ella loved gardening, shopping, going out to Cracker Barrel, family gatherings, watching the weather channel, and sampling York Peppermint Patties. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church. Ella spent 14 years of winters in Lakeland FL and went to all of the Tigers games there. Everyone she met loved her sense of humor and generosity.
Family will receive friends from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm Sunday April 15, 2012 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home where services will be held 1pm Monday with Pastor John Haag of St. Peter Lutheran Church officiating. Entombment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Peter Lutheran church or Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence
